ABOUT JANET
Janet Lebamoff grew up in a small Michigan town where at a young age she sat in her father’s study
listening to Ernie Harwell announce Detroit Tiger games on the radio while her father wrote his
weekly sermons. The youngest of eight children, Janet knew that Sundays were meant for church in
the morning and the family gathering to listen to or watch the Tigers on TV in the afternoon. Before
graduating from Central Michigan University with an accounting degree, she met her husband, Bob,
who attended Michigan State and was a member of the Spartan baseball team. Because as a child
she scored those Tiger games, she knew that a 6-4-3 was much more than just a data accounting
entry! Fueled by her love of baseball, Janet volunteered countless hours at a local Little League by
raking the diamond, chalking the field, and even scoring her son’s teams’ games. You could say that
baseball was in her blood!
In September, 2006, Janet was diagnosed with breast cancer and was told by her doctors that she
had only a short time to live. Her response was that she had a family to raise and baseball games to
attend! Janet fought with quiet courage , strong faith in Jesus, and some German stubbornness. In
November, 2010, she entered heaven leaving behind her husband, daughter Lauren ( Anderson
University graduate 2013), and son Alex (Concordia Lutheran High School graduate 2013.)
